Christmas Card Challenge January 2008

One of my New Years resolutions is to have my Christmas cards done early!! I like to give cards to soldiers through my local SBS. I have done this for the past three years and would like to give even more in 2008. I have signed up for the Split Coast Christmas Card Challenge 2008 to help me get ahead this year. I am going to try and make 20 a month instead of 10. Some months I will probably have trouble getting 10 done so we will just have to see how it goes. This month I wanted to try out my new set of City of David. I have always liked this set but have put off getting it. When it was placed on the retirement list I just had to get it before it was gone. I really love it!! I’m so very glad I got it. The cards posted on split coast are beautiful and I’m sure I will enjoy making many more cards with this set it in the future. For now here are the three cards I made this week towards the CCS2008. I was able to make them early because I am off for Christmas Break. I am posting them tomorrow on Split Coast to be part of the January challenge. Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!!
I hope to post some picutre this evening of our family and friends New Years eve bash!!

Cards for Guys

I just love these sets. I have played around with them before but wanted to make some cards for male birthdays and stuff. These cards where inspired by "no time to stamp". Here is a link to her site: http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/

Card #1
I used a shiny copper cardstock I picked up at a local scrapbook store "The Scrapbook General Store" it's really neat and I like the way it looks when embossed with the cuttlebug folders. I don’t think you can really see how shiny it is from this picture. I cut the star using a sizzix die. I placed a MM copper star in the middle of each star. I used chocolate chip wide ribbon.

Card #2
After I stamped the horse onto cocoa I wadded it up to make it look kind of like leather. I stamped the river rock scallop circle with bayou blue. The paisley is stamped in chocolate chip. I distressed the edges of the old olive and tour the mustard at the bottom.

Paper: Choc. Chip, Old Olive, Mustard, River Rock, Close to Cocoa, Shiny Copper Cardstock

Ink: Choc. Chip, Bayou Blue

Accessories: Scallop Circle, Wide Choc. Chip Ribbon, Copper Brads from Making Memories

Thanks so much for your comments!! I really love making these books. I guess I better since the #12 lunch bags I purchased come in bundles of 500 and I got brown and white. That is 1000 bags and I only use 3 per book. oh well! Just an excuse to scrap more!! I got the cat stickers and the dog brads at a local scrapbook store called "The Scrapbook Nook" it is owned by a mother and daughter that are just so sweet!! The cat stickers are from creative imaginations and the brads are from masterpiece studios. The metal dog charms are from around the block, I picked them up at a.c. moore. But let me tell you it is hard to find cute cat stuff!! This store is the only store in the whole area I live in that had cat stuff. Oh and the paper came from different stores. I picked up whatever I found that I liked. Hope this helps.
Hope everyone has a good evening!!

SC156

After finishing the "animal house" book I had a few minutes to try out todays challenge. I really wanted to make something with this new set but did not have alot of time after finishing up with the paper bag book. So here's my card very quick and simple. I used pattern paper from Hobby Lobby, pink jewels and the largest marvy scallop circle. I think I'll try this challenge again in a couple of days when I get to stamp again!!
Thanks for looking!!

Last Minute Tags

I made these tags this weekend. I got this set a couple of weeks ago and have not had a chance to use it yet. I love basic grey figgy pudding and wanted to use it one last time this Christmas. I am now working on my Split Coast Christmas Challenge Cards. My first cards will be made with City of David, another set I just got. This is my first year doing the Christmas Challenge but I'm looking forward to having my Christmas stuff done early and with no stress.

Paper Bag Scrapbook Using My New Bind-it-all

I got a Bind-it-all for Christmas well to be honest I got it early but just got to complete a project with it!! A couple of weeks ago my husband stop into our local scrapbook store while on his break and purchase the bind-it-all for me. He had Winnie the owner call me to come and pick it up, he never can wait for Christmas or birthdays. I love it!! It is really fun to use and I love all the different colors of spirals. I really like all the ribbon I can tie on the spirals. I'm going to try to put bells on the spirals when I make a Christmas book. My sister sells for Angel Company and she got her new catalog in the mail Monday and they are going to sell it. So if you do not have anyone local who sells them find an Angel rep. I made this book for my friend Amiee who has a dog and a cat. I mix it up so she could display pictures of both. I used some of the same ideas for the dog book I sold but changed the paper. It is very hard to find cat stuff. I finally found something I liked on Friday and worked on this between all the family stuff the last few days. Hope everyone has a good night!! Thanks for looking!!

Family Day

I have been busy the last couple of days and have not gotten to stamp!! (sigh) Yesterday my girls and I cleaned house. I had put it off long enough so we had to get to it. Today we had a family day. We went shopping, had lunch and then we went to see a movie, which is one my favorite things to do next to stamping. We went to see National Treasure 2 Book of Secrets. I was very excited to see it cause I love love love the first on. I went in expecting this one not to be as good as the first because usually it is hard to find sequels that are as good as the first one. But let me tell you it was awesome!! The story was gripping and the characters where great. I love the desks that where like giant puzzle boxes. Ben's mom was introduced in this movie and I really like her. But Riley Pool is my favorite character, he is just so funny. It is a great family movie and definitely worth seeing.
Hope u had a great weekend!! Thanks for looking!!

Dog Paper Bag Scrapbook

A co-worker that my hubby works with ordered a paper bag scrapbook for her friend for Christmas. I had a hard time finding dog stuff that was not kiddie. I finally found some large brads that where adorable and used them for my basic colors. The charms are from around the block and I picked up the last set at my local acmoore and I do not think they will be getting any more in. I have just enough left to do a cat/dog book for my friend as a last minute gift for Christmas. I love the giant brads and the colors are great cause they went great with all kinds of colors in the earth elements group. I did not stamp at all in this book (sigh!) because I have not purchased any dog stamps . I had a lot of fun making it and really hope she likes it. Thanks for looking!! Have a wonderful day!!

New Catalog

I got my new catalog yesterday in the mail!!!! I love all the new stuff!! The cover is beautiful and in my fav in-color groovy guava. Here is the cover. I hope to have my pre-order catalogs by next Friday. I looked through it a bunch already and have already started my sale-bration wish list for Feb. I know now why I'm always so broke. Cause Stampin' Up! has so much awesome stuff!!

How Do I Look?

Today was the last day of school!! We are now on Christmas Break!!! I work at Russell Primary School as a cook. Today was PJ Day. I went out last night and got some new jammies cause mine where all wore out. It took me for ever to find hair things to match and I ended up with one red and one pink cause that was all I could find. I love to be silly and took this chance to have fun. All the kids and teachers wore PJ and me and one other cook wore ours. Of course I did not wear the slippers while cooking. I only put them on when I was at the computers/cash register. My hubby took the picture before I rushed out the door. I hate pictures of myself but have decided that my kids need the pictures to look back at someday. And what better way to remember me then how silly and fun I could be. Anyways it was a fun way to go out for break and let me tell you I am ready for a break. I plan to scrap, scrap, scrap and maybe clean house and of course spend time with family.

Seasons of Joy Card

I made this card for my neice and her new husband. My hubby and I thought it would be nice to give them and evening out. We got them gift cert. to Red Lobster for dinner, movie passes and starbucks for dessert. I want to use some more of my figgy pudding paper. Can you tell I'm happy to find some!! lol

Glorious Garland Christams Card

I made this card for a friend at work. We pick names and get presents for each other. The person who got my name got me a gift cert. to a local scrapbook store. Only about two miles from my home. I can't wait to spent it!! The store is closed on Mondays so I will have to wait until Tuesday to spend it. I finally got some Basic Grey Figgy Pudding. I have wanted some but had a hard time finding it in my area. We have three scrapbook stores and four chain stores, Hobby Lobby, A.C. Moore, Micheals, and Joann Fab. in our area. The only place that carried Figgy Pudding was a scrapbook store that is about a 35 min. drive for me and kind of hard for me to get to when they are open. You know who it is with work and kids. But I finally found it and bought several different pieces so I would have some on hand.

Fun Christams Quiz! What will be in your stocking?

Your Christmas Stocking Will Be Filled With a Puppy

Well - one cute, soft, cuddly puppy...
And a very soiled Christmas stocking.

Christams Paper Bag Scrapbook

This is the second book I made. I used Sparkling Season, Season of Joy, and two sets from The Angel Company, I can't remember the names of the sets. I get the sparkly stamped images by running the stamped images upside down in the zyron glue runner then sprinkling fine glitter on it. I dry embossed the silver tray and put buttons on to look like cookies. I really love making these books. I'm also working on a baby boy book that I will post when I am done.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!!

Halloween Paper Bag Scrapbook

This is one of two paper bag scrapbook that I made for our friends, Amy and Rusty, for Christmas. Amy also cuts my hair and my husband Jerry works with Rusty. They have two adorable little boys and I love to make her things she can show them off with.
I've used Bitty Boos, Carved and Candlelit, Home is Where the Haunt is, Spooky Skyline Wheel, and Baroque Motifs stamp sets. I used Stampin Up! cardstock and pattern paper from Hobby Lobby.

Which Disney Princess Are You

Which Disney Princess Are You?

You are Belle. You are strong, deep, and you are not a slave to petty superficial things. You are independent and allow yourself to see inner beauty without sacrificing your values. You are almost too good of a person.
